In the Northern Hemisphere we are getting ready to move into Spring. Energetically, Spring is a powerful time of re-birth and renewal. It is also marks a transition from feminine energy into masculine energy.
In the summer months when the Sun is high in the sky, we feel energised, invigorated and charged up with a beautiful masculine force.
Many years ago, in 1918 to be exact, when the Sun would be in the sky for longer, people proposed daylight savings time which would earn them one extra hour of daylight.
By getting up earlier in the morning, people would not only save on electricity but they would also be able to enjoy the beautiful energy of the Sun for longer.
This may have been the truth back in the early 1900’s, but today, there are many conspiracy theories about daylight savings and why we really have it in place.
Some believe it is to get us to spend more money and others believe it is a way for the government to control and dominate over its people.
“With the ability to set the clocks back they have mastered the space/time continuum right? And now that they control all of the world markets, the world’s largest military, they are officially the masters of the Universe!”- Allison Fine
Another conspiracy to add into the mix here is relating to our consciousness and pineal gland. By adjusting the time by just one hour, it can cause numerous side effects on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.
Research shows us that after daylight savings time is introduced there is a rise in heart attacks, suicide rates, car accidents and sleep issues. There is also a reduce level of productivity and quality of life for many people.
The pineal gland, which is known as the seat of consciousness or third eye, is also heavily effected by daylight savings time as its job is to produce melatonin.
Melatonin is a hormone that helps to regulate the sleep cycle and is also believed to help support the third eye.
By interrupting our sleep patterns by even an hour, it puts stress on the pineal gland and can cause us to feel irritated, confused or “blocked up”.
Energetically, by skipping an hour in the dimension of time, our energy needs to play catch up. This causes us to feel behind, stressed and even like we lack control. It can also impact on the functioning of our third eye.
As our body’s rhythm tries to play catch up, we also become more susceptible to emotional outbursts and mood swings.
By increasing the daylight hours we also force our bodies to shift into a more masculine state of being, perhaps before some of us are ready for it.
In the winter months we move into a feminine state of being where we can go within and reflect on the deeper depths of our soul.
In a feminine energy, we are able to support and nourish our souls so we are ready to spring forward and use our creative energy to produce things under the masculine energy of summer.
When we are moved out of our feminine state too early we have not had enough time to create. We have not had enough time to restore our inner world so we can bring it into the external.
Introducing daylight savings time, especially before the Spring Equinox, robs us of our feminine energy and forces us to move straight into a masculine one.
This will have the same effect on both men and women, as we both need to work with these energies in order to feel complete and whole.
So, how can you protect yourself from the energetic and physical effects of daylight savings?
- Take it slow, your body may feel the transition from a inner state to an outer state and you need to be gentle with yourself
- Take time to still go within and ensure that your internal world is aligned, strong and secure
- Try to go to bed earlier, turn off all bright lights in your house and use candles or himalayan salt lamps
- Have a warm relaxing bath before bed with calming herbs such as lavender and chamomile
- Get some sun first thing in the morning in order to set your rhythm, this will help your pineal gland as well
- Practice sun salutations or stretch in the sun
- Remove all electromagnetic fields from the bedroom, like your cell phone, as this will disrupt your pineal gland and melatonin production
- Avoid watching TV just before bed, as this can impact on your ability to get a restful sleep
- Take a pineal gland detox
Energetically, the effects of daylight savings won’t linger around for long. Eventually your energy will learn to adapt. Just be gentle with yourself, take time to rest, relax and rejuvenate your soul.
