Purple Potatoes Proven to Kill Colon Cancer Cells – Study

Research is showing more and more powerfully and clearly how natural, whole foods and the nutrients they provide are able to prevent, combat and kill cancer cells. Surely the mainstream is going to sit up and take notice soon.
As I posted last week in my Seven Most Alkaline Cancer-Fighting Foods – this isn’t just a case of drawing a dotted line conclusion that healthy foods have good stuff in them so they will be good for your body and thus fight cancer…
No.
This is hard, scientifically proven, researched fact.
In that article I showed you (with the studies) that turmeric, leafy greens, beans, healthy oils, garlic, broccoli, cauliflower and bell pepper all had strong cancer fighting & prevention properties.
And now we can add purple potato to the list.

Purple Potato Proven to Kill Colon Cancer Cells: Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry

In the December 2015 issue of the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, researchers from Penn State University found that cooked, purple-fleshed potatoes suppressed the growth of colon cancer cells both in vitro and in vivo.
The exciting thing is, this has opened a great big, gigantic door to finding dozens, if not HUNDREDS of other vegetables that can do the same for other cancers.
Since slow-cycling and therapy-resistant cancer stem cells (CSCs) were first hypothesised in 2012, researchers have been trying to find ways to counteract them.
The lead researcher from this study, Prof. Jairam KP Vanamala, explains it like this: “You might want to compare cancer stem cells to roots of the weeds. You may cut the weed, but as long as the roots are still there, the weeds will keep growing back and, likewise, if the cancer stem cells are still present, the cancer can still grow and spread.”

The research study found that treating colon CSCs with cooked purple potato (PP) extracts both reduced the motility, whilst increasing apoptosis of CSCs. Further experiments showed comparable results in vivo, when mice with colon cancer were fed PP (20 % w/w; the equivalent of a human eating 1 large PP a day).
The researchers showed that PPs contain a range of natural chemicals that work together to provide the CSC fighting properties, including chlorogenic acid, anthocyanins, and resistant starch.
“Our earlier work and other research studies suggest that potatoes, including purple potatoes, contain resistant starch, which serves as a food for the gut bacteria, that the bacteria can covert to beneficial short-chain fatty acids such as butyric acid. The butyric acid regulates immune function in the gut, suppresses chronic inflammation and may also help to cause cancer cells to self-destruct.”
Vanamala also emphasized eating a wide range of vegetables:
“In addition to resistant starch, the same color compounds that give potatoes, as well as other fruits and vegetables, a rainbow of vibrant colors may be effective in suppressing cancer growth, he added.
“When you eat from the rainbow, instead of one compound, you have thousands of compounds, working on different pathways to suppress the growth of cancer stem cells,” said Vanamala. “Because cancer is such a complex disease, a silver bullet approach is just not possible for most cancers.”
From this research purple potatoes can be used in both primary and secondary prevention strategies for cancer, Vanamala suggested.
Primary prevention is aimed at stopping the initial attack of cancer, while secondary prevention refers to helping patients in remission remain cancer-free.
The team hopes to continue to push the awareness of research for cancer prevention as well as cure as so little research funding is currently going into this area.

YOUR BODY IS ACIDIC. THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO!

Many people who are reading this may have a high acidity level in his or her body. This is due to the typical first world diet of processed foods, refined sugars, and GMOs. However, many people do not know that an acidic body is a breeding ground for cancer.

How long have we known this? Since 1931. That is right. 84 years.

How this happens is clearly illustrated in Warburg’s award-winning study:
A normal healthy cell undergoes an adverse change when it can no longer take in oxygen to convert glucose into energy. In the absence of oxygen, the cell reverts to a primal nutritional program to nourish itself by converting glucose through the process of fermentation. The lactic acid produced by fermentation lowers the cell pH (acid/alkaline balance) and destroys the ability of DNA and RNA to control cell division. The cancer cells then begin to multiply. The lactic acid simultaneously causes severe local pain as it destroys cell enzymes. Cancer appears as a rapidly growing external cell covering, with a core of dead cells. (CancerCompass)

So what are we supposed to do?

Maintaining pH balance in our bodies is important. One can do this by changing their diet and eating foods that promote alkalinity is key. Some foods that promote a balanced pH include celery, broccoli, peppers, kale, and avocados.

Home Remedy

If you believe your body acidity is high, here is a quick and easy home remedy to use. Signs of high body acidity include mucus buildup, joint pain, cold hands or feet, reduced sex drive, chemical sensitivity, heartburn, a metallic taste in the mouth, and muscular pain.   • ⅓ Teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 2 Tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice or Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

He Found The Cause Of Cancer, But This Doctor Wrote A Book For Its Cure Too What No One Knows

Do you know the person who discovered cancer was Doctor Otto Heinrich Warburg?
He was a German Physiologist as well as a medical doctor, but something which gave him great fame was being the man whose research found the causes of cancer. Emil Warburg, his father, was a famous physicist. In First World War, Otto served as an officer, and he was also awarded with the Iron Cross for his acts of bravery. Since his family was Jewish that’s why he couldn’t serve in Second World War.
Amazingly Hitler let Otto work on his cancer research. In 1931, he won the Nobel Prize, and he would be a 47-time nominee for the same award in the years to follow!
Most of us know the above things about his life, but one specific side of his life is still hidden from many of us, and no one really talks about it too. Where people know him as a person who found the causes of cancer, similarly he wrote a book on its cure, named “Cancer: Its Cause and Its Cure.”
So the question is why didn’t we hear about this before?

Actually, his main theory related to cure had to do with alkaline environments. He found that cancer cells cannot thrive nor exist in alkaline environments and the more harmful, acidic things you put in your body, the more pleasing environment you have created for cancer to flourish.
“Cancerous tissues are acidic, whereas healthy tissues are alkaline. Water splits into H+ and OH- ions, if there is an excess of H+, it is acidic; if there is an excess of OH- ions, then it is alkaline.”

According to him, the root cause of cancer is usually the deficiency of oxygen. An acidic state will be formed in the human body with a lack of oxygen, thus allowing cancer to thrive. Then the main thing is oxygen.
So the simple guideline for your better health could be to prevent yourself from forming cancer in the body.

Energise Power Meal

Here is our Energise Power Meal. It is delicious, filling and only requires about 10 minutes to make! It is vibrant, colourful and packed with anti-oxidants!

  • Serves: 2
  • Preparation Time: 10 Minutes

  • Ingredients:
  • 1/4 Red cabbage thinly sliced
  • 2 Handfuls of spinach leaves
  • 2 Vine-ripened tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, diced
  • 4 spring onions, thinly sliced/shredded
  • 1/2 cucumber, cut into thin matchsticks
  • 1 carrot, cut into thin matchsticks or spiralised
  • 1/2 broccoli, chopped small
  • Handful of beansprouts
  • 1 serving of soba noodles
  • 1 handful of coriander leaves
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Bragg Liquid Aminos/Soy Sauce
  • Optional: handful of alfalfa sprouts 

Instructions

Tear the coriander and squeeze the lime juice over it to marinate a little.
Slice everything and prepare the soba noodles.
Mix together in a big salad bowl with the Bragg or soy sauce and eat!
This meal is 90% raw, but with warmth and substance from the noodles.
If you want to keep this meal alkaline then use Bragg because soy sauce is acidifying in the body.

Nutritional Summary

This food is very low in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol. It is also a good source of Dietary Fiber, Thiamin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Magnesium and Potassium, and a very good source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Manganese.

Your Body is Acidic. Here is what you NEED to Do

Noble prize Winner Dr. Otto H Warburg , who discovered the real cause of cancer, has found that the root cause of cancer is oxygen deficiency. 1/3 tsp. baking soda
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice or organic apple cider vinegar
Method
Mix everything together.  The acid/base combination will immediately begin to fizz. Keep adding baking soda until the fizz stops and then fill the glass with  8 oz. water.

Drink all at once. This home remedy will help neutralizes the pH and create  an alkaline-forming environment in your body.  It will help with  stomach acid and reduce acidosis.
