Throat Chakra

What does it mean when you have real challenges with expressing yourself? Mostly, it means that you’ve got an energetic block in your Throat Chakra. And you might be surprised at some of the ways this can manifest itself in your life!
The Fifth, or Throat Chakra is also known in Sanskrit as Vishuddha, which means “purification.” All of your communications and self-expression are related to this chakra.
The Throat Chakra also governs the thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, throat, tonsils, mouth, teeth and gums, neck and shoulder muscles, ears (hearing and ear infections), and growth as form of expression. The possibility for change, transformation, and healing are also located here.

  • Writing down your truth in a journal
In just about every case, when you feel that people don’t listen to you, it’s not really the truth – it’s just your belief.  As soon as you start speaking, people start listening.  And even if they don’t agree with you, just remember – they had to listen to you in the first place to be able to disagree with you.  The more you speak up and share, the more opportunities you give others to hear you.  The more you listen to others with an open mind and heart, the more you teach them about how to do the same.  As you appreciate truth and honesty from others, so do they appreciate the same from you.  So don’t be shy now!  Open up and let others hear the one unique voice that is yours!

Balance your Throat Chakra that influences your ability to effectively communicate thoughts, feeling, desires, and needs, as well as your ability to effectively listen to and understand others.
When your Throat Chakra is unbalanced, you may be too talkative and less than truthful, or timid and unable to express yourself and your needs.
The Throat Chakra is located in the neck, its color is sky blue, its element is the Aether, and it rules our sense of hearing. The Throat Chakra is the center of communication, self-expression, and creativity. Its highest function is listening to our Highest Self and communicating our Truth to others, expressing our True Selves honestly and openly. This chakra urges us to find our True Self, communicate it through our creativity, and use the creative force of our higher emotions to move our consciousness into the higher dimensions. And just as we need to learn to listen to our Higher Self, we must also learn to listen to others. Through the Throat Chakra, we learn how to direct and express our creative force in all areas of our life, manifesting what we desire through our Word.
When the Throat Chakra is clear and in balance, we are good communicators, speaking honestly and from the heart, as well as being good listeners. We are able to ask for what we want/need from others. We are able to express ourselves uniquely and creatively. Our relationships are based on truthful communication and true intimacy. The God/Goddess in you connects with the God/Goddess in others.
When the Throat Chakra is unbalanced by excessive energy, we may be too talkative, demanding, speak too loud, and be less than truthful. When the Throat Chakra is blocked, we may be timid and shy, unable to express ourselves and unable to ask for what we need. We may believe that we are not creative and we may seem boring or bored to others. We may feel uninspired and disconnected from Spirit. Because we may not be able to express ourselves and ask for what we need, we may feel very frustrated and powerless.
In addition to the chakra clearing and balancing meditation, there are several ways that you can focus your energy and intention on balancing and clearing the Throat Chakra. Carry or wear turquoise, blue topaz, aquamarine, or chalcedony gemstones. Begin a meditation practice so that you can learn to still the mind so that you can hear and connect with your Higher Self and your guides. Use mantras. Spend time singing, chanting, or toning. Find ways to express yourself creatively, in whatever way you feel called. Intend to truly listen to yourself and others, and to only speak your Truth. It is the ability to go inside to connect with our inner guidance before we communicate with another that creates true intimacy because it is based on our deepest inner truth.

Throat Chakra Exercise
Take a moment to clear and energize your Throat Chakra.
While looking at this image, bring your attention to your throat area in your body. This is located in your neck, where you swallow. Allow yourself to feel your presence there, paying attention to all the sensations.
Affirm:
It is safe for me to speak my Truth from my Heart.
I can say what I feel, and it’s OK.
I am allowed to speak my mind without fear.
I know how to express myself, and I know how it feels to be heard.
I listen to myself. I hear what I say. I acknowledge the thoughts I speak.
I give myself permission to be heard, listened to, and acknowledged.
I speak Truth.
I speak Love.
I speak Forgiveness.
I express myself without doubt.
I AM discernment in all of my communications.
I know how to listen to my Heart.
I know how to listen to others.
What I say is worth listening to. I AM worth being heard.
I know when to speak up, and I know when to be silent.
I speak and listen with discernment and without arrogance.
I listen with compassion and an open mind towards others’ viewpoints.
I allow myself to learn from what others say.
I remember to relax my jaw.
I AM honest in all I think and feel and say and do.
I AM honest with myself.
I allow Source to speak through me.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
Breathe into your throat area. Breathe in these affirmations as you say them out loud. Breathe out all arrogance, bitter anger, and resentment. Breathe in acceptance. Breathe out all rejection and closed-mindedness and all ideas that you are not heard, listened to or appreciated. Breathe in Truth. Breathe out Truth, Love, Forgiveness, Appreciate, Respect and Gratitude, and imagine the circulation of all of that out to all others. As you are permitted to speak your Truth and express yourself freely as your own Divine Right, so are all others. Use your speech to express Love, Gratitude, Truth and Forgiveness to remind others how to do the same.
