4 LIES MAINSTREAM MEDICINE IS TELLING YOU ABOUT YOUR HEALTH!

It can be incredibly easy to fall into the trap of thinking you have no reason to question your doctor, or the health information presented to us by the media.
After all, these are the professionals speaking, right? Who am I to argue with the World Health Organization?
But while medical professionals certainly do have a lot of credibility, it’s incredibly important to remember that we live in a world filled with misconceptions and even outright deception.
It’s becoming increasingly important to think for ourselves, especially when you consider the ever-present tendency of man to assume that because the world is the most advanced it’s ever been, it’s also the best it’s ever been.
Those are two completely different things and as a few of the lies on this list make clear, just because we’re advanced enough to interfere with our bodies and nature doesn’t mean it’s in the best interest of our health to actually do so.

Lie #1 – GMOs Are A Good Thing

They might be the food of the future, but GMOs are certainly not healthy by any means.
As of today, 95% of the country’s sugar beets, 94% of its soybeans, 90% of its cotton and 80% of corn is genetically modified as reported by USA Today.
And that’s pretty terrifying, especially when you consider the dangers of GMO foods.
If you’re on this website you’re probably very familiar with the health dangers associated with genetically modified foods, dangers that range from allergies to antibiotic-resistant diseases.
But the effects of GMOs are so much more far-reaching than our physical health.
The big business behind GMOs is completely destroying any semblance of trust people still have in big food companies. We’re still fighting for GMOs to be labelled, and small companies and farmers are going out of business because they can’t afford to buy patented seeds that self-destruct every single year.
The bank accounts of a select group of people are growing while destroying the health and livelihood of so many others.



Lie #2 – Fluoride Prevents Tooth Decay

Rates of tooth decay have fallen at pretty consistent rates worldwide and countries that do not fluoridate their water are right on par with those who do, as the following infographic from Fluoride Alert makes clear.

And yet, this is one of the most commonly cited health benefits of water fluoridation by proponents of the process.
They refer to it as a ‘public health investment’ but really, what happens to our bodies as a result of fluoridation?
Nothing good, that’s for sure. In the ’70s, Austrian researchers found that even a small amount of fluoride concentration can disrupt DNA’s ability to repair itself. When our DNA can’t repair itself, we age faster.

Lie #3 – Lowering Cholesterol Is The Best Way To Prevent Heart Disease

Here’s a very unfortunate misconception that’s capitalized upon by food companies, statin manufacturers and news organizations who love to throw people into a frenzy by spitting out information that isn’t entirely true.
Cholesterol is commonly touted as the reason for cardiovascular disease but in reality, people with high LDL cholesterol have actually been found to live long, healthy lives.
As we reported here, the misconception exists as a result of scientists having observed an abundance of cholesterol in the arteries of individuals who suffered heart attacks.
But Dr. Beverly Teter from the University of Maryland sets the record straight:
“It’s the inflammation in the vessels that start the lesion. The body then sends the cholesterol like a scab to cover over it to protect the blood system and the vessel wall from further damage.”
Cholesterol is vital to our health and binging on foods low in it is a surefire way to make your body say, “Hey, what’s going on?”
Too bad that truth doesn’t sell overpriced “healthy” cookies.

Lie #4 – Toxic Chemicals Have Acceptable Levels

There seems to be this idea floating around that up until a certain point, having toxic chemicals in your body is completely harmless.
And yeah, while you’re not going to turn green and start sprouting a second head if you have a minimal amount of uranium in your blood, that doesn’t mean you’ve escaped completely.
Industry standards exist that tell us what the acceptable levels for things like asbestos are, but the truth is that there’s no such thing.
Even in small quantities, harmful toxins are just that – harmful.
