Fortunately, there are ways to manage your sensitivity:
1. Cherish your sensitivity. Being sensitive IS an asset, no matter what other people say or any struggles it creates for you. Sensitivity allows you to feel the truth about situations and relationships. Sensitivity is compassionate, because you literally feel for other people. As a compassionate person, you are aware of how your actions affect others, so you are extra gentle and considerate.
2. Surround yourself with gentleness. It’s infinitely easier to be sensitive when the people and situations in your life are kind, considerate, and gentle. You have the right to rearrange your life so that you are friends with people who are sweet and loving. You can avoid or reduce your contact with those who practice harsher behaviors. For some sensitive people, this means creating self-employment or working for a smaller company. For other sensitive people, it’s about working at home so that you can avoid a nerve-jarring freeway commute. Be gentle with yourself, including resting when you need to, and not pushing yourself beyond your energy levels.
3. Be aware of pain-energy. As a sensitive person, you can feel pain in others. In fact, this is a spiritual gift which is part of your life purpose because when you sense pain, you can help to transmute it through your prayers for others, and helping where you can. It’s also important to pray over animal products before touching or consuming them, because these days unfortunately most animals suffer painful lives and deaths for meat, cheese, leather, eggs, milk, etc. Going vegan and/or praying over animal products stops you from absorbing these pain energies. Similarly, avoid buying or wearing clothing or other products which were made in sweatshops, as the pain energy of the abused workers will affect highly sensitive people. Pray over the clothing before wearing it to transmute the pain energy, or choose sweatshop-free vintage or certified fairtrade clothing, which you can easily find with an internet search.
4. Practice Assertiveness. As a kind, compassionate, and sensitive person, other people may try to take advantage of your niceness. You’ll need to be in-touch with your emotions and bodily signals, which will warn you if you’re being taken advantage of. Teach yourself about assertiveness, and with practice, you’ll develop the strength to develop healthy boundaries so that you can say No without guilt.
5. Prayer Works. Pray for spiritual protection, guidance about your actions, and help when you feel in pain or overwhelmed. In addition to praying to God, Jesus, and your religious and spiritual beliefs, call upon Archangel Michael– the non-denominational protective angel who helps anyone who calls upon him.
6. Detox. It’s important to let yourself feel what you feel, and to trust that your feelings are your friends reporting the truth to you. Avoid anything which smothers your feelings, such as alcohol, drugs, or numbing compulsive behaviors. A good counselor can help you to heal the underlying hurts from the past, so that you can approach life without chemicals or other addictions.
7. Healing with Nature. There are so many gifts within nature to help you feel happy and healthy while keeping your sensitivity open:
*Trees and plants naturally clear away toxins from the air and from the energy. Have a potted plant next to your bed, so that the plant can clear your energy and the air in your room while you sleep. Go outside and lean against a tree and request that it clear you of negative or painful energy – and it will as I’ve experienced over the years for myself and others.
*Use aloe vera gel as a shaving cream or body lotion, since aloe vera is a healing agent which clears away negative energy.
*Soak in a warm bathtub filled with sea salt, which you can buy in bulk in the spice section of a health food store at a more economical price than the little packets of bath salt. Add your favorite essential oils (lavender is calming for sensitive people and rose opens the heart to love).
*Wearing a crystal pendant over your heart can act as a buffer shield from harsh energy. Choose hematite or black tourmaline for energy protection, or clear quartz for clearing your energy, as a pendant on a long chain, and you’ll feel cleared and protected throughout the day. As crystals absorb energy, you’ll want to pray that they are cleared on a regular basis.
