Here’s What Happens To Your Body When You Quit Eating Sugar

I once smoked, but I had this attitude about it that it wasn’t really addictive and I could stop any time. Then I stopped and my opinion on addiction was shaken. It was after I quit smoking that I realized what addiction was and that I was addicted to something else.
Sugar.
It’s not to say that sugar is evil evil evil! It occurs naturally in plenty of foods. Excess sugar, however, is where it starts to become problematic. It’s the sugar in candies, cakes, even so-called healthy fruit juices. You can’t really blame yourself for wanting them. You’ve been trained to desire sugar since before you could talk. But what happens when we opt to stop eating sugar?

1. Your weight will be more stable.

I’m not going to tell you that you’ll lose weight necessarily because there are a lot of different factors that go into that, but your scale likely won’t fluctuate so wildly. One reason you might lose weight is because a light of high sugar foods are also high carb foods, which can definitely stick around as fat if you don’t work it off.

2. You’ll have more energy.

It seems funny that sugar, something that gives you a little rush of energy, actually brings down your energy levels over time. That and there won’t be any crazy highs and shotgun murder/suicide lows of blood sugar. Sounds nice.

3. Your gut will do what it’s supposed to.

When you cut sugar from your diet, you’re also likely cutting a lot of really hard to digest foods too. You can do it another favor by simultaneously eating foods that are very high in fiber and drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

4. Your skin will be healthier.

In some cases, sugar causes cracking and acne on your skin, no matter how many creams and ointments you use. Many people report after quitting sugar that their skin perfectly clears up.

5. You won’t want sugar anymore.

It’s the same with cigarettes. The longer you’re off it, the less you want it. If you get rid of sugar and keep off sugar, you simply won’t want sugar so much anymore.
