7 Feng Shui Features That Can Be Hurting You

Just about any house can have serious Feng Shui flaws in the floor plan; with some much more serious than others.

Once you learn how to identify negative Feng Shui aspects like the staircase in the center of the home or a bathroom facing a front door, you can make changes or avoid buying a home that will challenge the energy.

Feng Shui Mistake #1:

The Back Door - Front Door Alignment

The best way to understand the front/back door alignment is to picture Chi, or energy, like water flowing through your home. The water can rush much faster through the two doors if they are aligned together, which means that water can not nourish the entire home.

It is very important when it comes to Feng Shui to avoid the front/back door alignment because all that good Chi coming in the front door is quickly escaping through the back door before it has the chance to nourish the entire house.

Feng Shui Mistake #2:

The Staircase Faces the Front Door

When the front door, also known as the "Mouth of Chi", is facing the staircase directly, the Chi that enters the home is quickly sent to an upper or lower level. As your house absorbs the energy through the front door it needs to be able to flow through the main floor to provide proper energy nourishment.

Avoid buying a home with this feature. The stairs can face any direction except in line with the main door.

Feng Shui Mistake #3:

The Bathroom Faces the Front Door

When the bathroom faces the front main door, that rush of energy that enters the home gets trapped in the bathroom. The energy has no chance to flow and nourish the rest of the main floor and escapes out the bathroom. The end result is little good Feng Shui energy nourishing your entire home.

Feng Shui Mistake #4:

The Staircase at the Center of the House

As a general rule, a staircase that is currently in the middle of a house or business will result in a misalignment of Feng Shui energy. In order to balance that energy, no redesign of colors, materials, or design will help.

If you cannot avoid getting a home with a center staircase, drastic Feng Shui cures are needed.

Feng Shui Mistake #5:

The Bathroom at the Center of the House

The reason a bathroom is considered bad Feng Shui if at the center of the house is because that area is regarded as the Yin-Yang space. Also known as the heart of the space, the center of your home must be light, open, and airy to attract beauty to it.

According to the Feng Shui teachings, the Yin-Yang space is where all other areas get their energy from.

Feng Shui Mistake #6:

The Master Bedroom Above the Garage

Considered very bad Feng Shui, the master bedroom should never be in position over a garage. There are two reasons the main bedroom and garage should never be aligned in this manner. For one, the garage has too much unsettled energy due to all the in and the out activity going on.

Secondly, the garage is considered to be an unstable energy foundation, the end result will be poor sleeping and interrupted relaxation.

Feng Shui Mistake #7:

The Long Narrow Hallway

If the home you want to purchase or rent has a very long and narrow hallway, consider looking elsewhere for a place to live. The main reason that this hallway is considered to be bad Feng Shui is because it has a combination of two opposing forces working against themselves.

The Sha Chi is the rushing energy, and it comes right up against the Si Chi or the stagnant energy. While smart Feng Shui decorating tips can remedy this imbalance, bad energy could be a result if not treated properly.
