6 Houseplants That Clean The Air And Help You Sleep

Jasmine

Not only does Jasmine clean the area, but the scented blossoms create a perfect atmosphere for sleep. This vine helps relieve anxiety and grows best in moist, well-drained soil. It prefers full sun but can cope with shade.

Peace Lily

Peace lilies are well known for their ability to put out large quantities of oxygen, but they also neutralize numerous indoor toxins, making your air healthier to breathe. Keep them away from kids and pets, though. They can be toxic.

Gardenia

Gardenia is a stellar choice for any bedroom. They have lovely, evergreen leaves and just delightful flowers. They do require extra care though. They need bright light and high humidity. They enjoy most, acidic soils.

Valerian

This perennial is lovely in the bedroom and needs at least six full hours of sun a day. Valerian has been used for generations to combat insomnia. It has a sweet, relaxing vanilla scent.

Bamboo/Reed Palm

Bamboo Palm scores high for putting out oxygen. It also helps remove benzene and trichloroethylene from the air. It likes shade and indirect sunlight and damp, not wet, soil.

Lavender

Like Jasmine, Lavender has an excellent aroma to it that's perfect for teas. It helps tame worry and provides you with a good night sleep.
