The behavior of a particle changes depending on whether or not someone's looking at it. This is a well known theory in quantum physics. It demonstrates that reality is an illusion and it only exists if we're looking at it. That's a pretty mind-blowing theory right there.
Physicists at the Australian National University have stumbled upon further evidence for this theory. They recreated the John Wheeler's Delayed-Chocie Experiment and found that reality doesn't in fact exist until it's been measured.
At least on the atomic scale.
Photons and electrons can behave as particles and as waves. Wheeler's experiment asks: at what point does an object decide to be a wave or a particle? The experiment, whose findings were published in Nature Physics, show that the choice is determined by how the object is measured.
" It proves that measurement is everything. At the quantum level, reality does not exist if you are not looking at it," said lead researcher Dr. Andrew Truscott in a press release.
