Awaken the Chakras With These 12 powerful Sound Mantras

Use powerful sound healing to clear your chakras.
Chakra is the Sanskrit for wheel or disk. In Ayurveda, yoga and meditation the word refers to the wheels of energy throughout the body. There are seven Chakras, starting from the root Chakra at the base of the spine, rising up to the top of the head or Crown Chakra.
Chakras are not seen by the human eye, but can be visualized as spinning wheels of energy, each having a specific color. This invisible force which is keeping us alive, healthy and vibrant is our Prana, or vital life energy.
Sound is vibration, and each of the seven Chakras has a unique harmonizing vibration. When combined with a mantra during meditation, they resonate deeply in the energy body and open the flow of Prana. Imagine the mantra as a tuning fork and each chakra is an instrument – visualize striking them together until the chakras are in vibrational resonance with the mantra tuning fork. Energy that does not share the same resonance will be cleared allowing us to thrive, not just survive.
Let’s begin with 12 helpful mantras to unblock and harmonize your chakras.

5 Bija Mantras

These beginning mantras, also known as Seed mantras are traditionally used during meditation for harmonizing energy.
  • OM: Is a beautiful, single syllable word. (Pronounced Aum). This mystical mantra is the most well known and is the universal sound of creation. OM is the mantra of self love and acceptance, it helps energy to gather and flow openly, freely, upward and outward.
  • KRIM – (pronounced kreem): Evoking this mantra purifies the root, sacral and solar plexus chakras. Stimulating them to awaken. Manifesting our hopes, dreams and desires.
  • SHRIM – (pronounced shreem): This mantra of the crown and third eye chakras opens the senses to beauty and happiness. Both spiritual and physical health harmonize when chanting this mantra.
  • HRIM (pronounced hreem): Mantra for purifying the heart chakra. Here you set the tone for compassion, empathy and love. This powerful mantra awakens the powers of healing and creativity.
  • HUM (pronounced hoom): Feeling excessively negative or broken down?  Vitality and positive feelings spread through the mind, body and spirit when chanting this mantra.

7 Cleansing Mantras

Each of the 7 Chakras has a corresponding cleansing mantra which sets the “tone” of your meditation. Don’t worry about using all of them at once, before each meditation find the most beneficial one which resonates with you.
  • Let the sound powerfully resonate in your body.
LAM associated with the Root Chakra. This cleansing mantra deals with instincts and survival. Chanting LAM assists in keeping you grounded to the earth, eliminating fear, and releasing old impurities blocking the Root Chakra. Opening this chakra will begin the harmonizing and cleansing of the other 6 energy centers, as all movement through the chakras starts in the root traveling upward to the crown. Chant LAM if you struggle with adrenal fatigue, low energy or self esteem, or other stress related concerns.
  • VAM associated the Sacral Chakra. This is our center of creativity, pleasure and sexuality. Cleansing the sacral with mantra assists in those who feel unsatisfied sexually and struggle to open up emotionally in relationships.
  • RAM associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra: Here is where our personal power lays. When this chakra is not flowing freely we lack self control, become impulsive, and struggle to stand up for ourselves.
  • YAM associated with the Heart Chakra: A powerful cleansing mantra for the heart energy center, chant YAM for giving and receiving love, healing from emotionally difficult situations, relationship issues and to open oneself to unconditional love.
  • HAM associated with the Throat Chakra: If communications are feeling stifled and frustrating, or you are struggling to express yourself the throat chakra will benefit from HAM. Unblocking this chakra increases the ability to communicate effectively with clear intent.
  • OM associated with the Third Eye Chakra: This is the energy center of intuition and wisdom. Blockages in the third eye manifest in feeling restricted and aimless. Sound healing with OM, the most common of mantras will help in discovering life’s passion and purpose. Let the “mmmm” resonate in your body for powerful healing!
  • AH associated with the Crown Chakra: Opening the crown chakra connects us with the divine. When this area is closed you may feel insignificant, disconnected from a higher purpose, and unable to let go of worldly attachments. AH is the sound of release, letting go of the past and that which does not serve us. Breathe out a deep sigh of relief when chanting AHHHHHHH…..
