What Your Home Says About Your Vibration

You may have heard the ancient saying, “as without, so within” or something similar. Basically, the reality you see outside yourself is a reflection of the reality you hold inside yourself.
And if the reality you see outside yourself is not to your liking, your home is the very first place to look for clues about your inner reality. It’s familiar and safe, and by taking care of the outward manifestations of negative thinking right here at home, you can create an energetic shift inside you as well.
Here are some common signs of negative beliefs and limited thinking (low vibrations of low self-esteem, low self-love, fear of change, etc.):
1. Lack of pride of ownership. To be fair, keeping up with the maintenance on an older home is really, really challenging and potentially expensive; however, keeping your home and yard tidy and free from debris and junk is important.
If you let “stuff” pile up around your home, it’s a very clear sign to the neighbors or any passers-by that you don’t care. Think about it: if you don’t care about where you live, you don’t care about yourself, either! After all, a home is meant to be a haven – a comfortable, happy place to retreat to after a day at work. But if that home is in chaos before you even walk in the front door, you can only imagine the chaos that is inside!
Solution: start showing yourself some love by taking care of your home, inside and out. Even if you live in an apartment, you can still do this. Perhaps the landlord will let you fix a few things, or paint, in lieu of a portion of the rent. As you repair what’s broken in your home, you’ll feel pride in ownership and by extension, pride in your own appearance and self-care (because truly, first impressions do count!).
2. Clutter. Clutter around you is a clear sign of clutter in your mind. If you’re holding on to stuff that no longer serves you, just for old times’ sake or “just in case you might need it again” then you are probably holding on to quite a few beliefs about yourself that don’t serve you anymore, either! You might also be stuck in worry – constantly rehashing everything that “might” go wrong, keeping yourself up at night… If you have trouble letting go of worry or of things that happened in the past, step 1 is to clear the excess clutter from your home.
Solution: Get rid of anything you’ve been holding on to, just because someone gave it to you (but you never use it or even like it). Think about the good this thing will do for someone who needs it. Make sure that anything you have is a) useful and b) gives you joy. It really is that simple – if something doesn’t meet those criteria, joyfully pass it on to someone else! Once  you’ve pared your belongings down to the things that are useful and bring you joy, organize them – this will help you organize the thoughts you’re having, too! This doesn’t have to be an overwhelming task – you can systematically go through small areas of each room to scale down, and once you’re down to the “essentials” then organize them.
Everything in your home should be useful and/or bring you joy!3. Dirt & filth. A home that’s gross – filthy floors, scummy sinks, greasy kitchen, moldy shower… points to a lack of self-like. You basically don’t care enough about your home because you don’t care enough about yourself. Harsh, but true.
Solution: spend just 15 minutes a day on maintenance cleaning. It takes practically no time to keep up with basic housekeeping and it prevents you from wasting your precious weekend play time stuck in the bathroom scrubbing the toilet!
When your home is cleaned, organized and repaired, you feel better about yourself. Keeping up with the care of your home will naturally become a routine of self-care as well. Right now, before you get started on this “renewal” project, just imagine how much freely positive energy will circulate through your home – and by extension, through you!
4. Austerity to the point of coldness. Having no personal touches or expressions of personality points to fear – fear of rejection, fear of intimacy, etc. Your home is a natural extension of you so allow some of yourself to shine through in the things you have! That’s not to say you must have decorative items, but you want to make people feel welcome (warm, happy, cozy) in your home.
Solution: what are you good at? Display samples of your unique craft, your very special talents, in your home.
Of course that’s not to say that every home is a disaster – most are a wonderfully cozy, neat, and happy homes with just a bit of chaos or mess here and there. The point is, the home is the first place to look for clues about your inner reality – and the first step in improving that inner reality so it easily manifests in your physical life!
